Google has launched YouTube Premium Lite in Malaysia for people who want fewer interruptions without a premium price tag
For a smaller monthly fee of RM12.90, YouTube Premium Lite users can watch most videos without the usual commercial breaks.
The plan also grants users the power to play videos in the background and download content for offline viewing.
However, before you reach for your credit card, note that there is a catch involved.
Unlike the standard YouTube Premium RM20.90 plan, Lite does not offer a totally ad-free experience or access to YouTube Music
If you want zero ads and a music library, the standard plan remains your best bet.
The Lite version is strictly for the video-focused crowd wanting the basics.

Malaysian users noted that the option started appearing on their devices on 3 May
The move by Google aims to capture the budget-conscious segment of the local market.
While it is not the all-access pass some hoped for, it provides a decent middle ground for anyone tired of clicking the skip button.
