Following controversy surrounding its adult-themed AI features, Elon Musk announced that his artificial intelligence company xAI will be developing "Baby Grok"
In a tweet, Musk said the kid-friendly version of its Grok AI chatbot is designed to provide safe and educational content for children.
The announcement follows criticism of Grok's more adult offerings, including an AI avatar named Ani that was reported to engage in flirtatious dialogue and suggestive actions, even with 'Kids Mode' enabled.

The Grok chatbot has also faced backlash for generating offensive and allegedly antisemitic responses
Baby Grok is expected to be a simplified version of the standard Grok chatbot, tailored for safe and educational interactions.
While details are still scarce, the initiative is expected to include enhanced content filters, a simplified user interface, and parental monitoring features.

This move positions xAI within a growing trend of AI developers creating specialised tools for younger audiences
The move reflects broader calls for regulation and accountability in the development of artificial intelligence.
Other companies, such as Google, have also revealed plans for kid-focused AI, like a special Gemini app to help with homework and creative projects.
