WhatsApp is finally preparing to launch a native message scheduling tool, addressing one of the most persistent requests from its global user base
The new functionality will allow users to compose messages in advance and set a specific time for automatic delivery. This development marks a significant shift for the platform, which has historically trailed behind competitors like Telegram and Google Messages in offering built-in automation features.
This was first identified by the tracking site WABetaInfo within the WhatsApp beta for iOS, version 26.7.10.72.
Although the tool is currently in the development phase and remains inaccessible even to most beta testers, internal code suggests that a dedicated "Scheduled Messages" menu will soon appear within the chat information screen.
This section is expected to sit alongside existing options such as "Media, Links, and Docs" and "Starred Messages".

The proposed interface aims to provide a seamless experience for both individual and group conversations
Users will likely be able to write their text, select a calendar date, and choose a specific time for delivery. Once a message is scheduled, it remains in a queue until the designated time.
Importantly, the system is designed to give senders full control over their pending messages. A dedicated management page will allow users to review or delete scheduled messages before they are sent. If a user decides to cancel a message before its delivery time, the recipient will not receive any notification, ensuring total privacy for the sender.

On iPhone, this often involved using the Shortcuts app, while Android users frequently turned to third-party applications. These external methods often posed potential security risks or required complex setups that hindered the user experience.
The introduction of a native tool brings WhatsApp in line with other major messaging platforms. Telegram has long offered a "Repeat" option for recurring reminders, and iMessage also supports scheduled delivery.
While it remains unclear if WhatsApp will include advanced recurring options at launch, the primary ability to send time-sensitive greetings or work reminders is a welcome addition for the Malaysian market, where the app is a primary tool for both personal and professional communication.
