WhatsApp Is Finally Available On iPad So You Can Chat With Friends On A Bigger Screen
But not every iPad will get the full experience.
If you've been waiting (and waiting) for a proper WhatsApp experience on iPad, your patience has finally paid off
Meta has just rolled out a native iPad app, giving users a version of WhatsApp that actually fits the larger screen and supports all the basics and then some.
The app allows users to make audio and video calls with up to 32 people, share screens, and flip between the front and back cameras.

It also plays nice with iPadOS multitasking tools like Split View, Slide Over, and Stage Manager
If you're juggling a group chat while planning a trip in Safari or hopping on a video call while referencing Notes, this update makes it feel less like a workaround and more like WhatsApp finally belongs on the iPad.
There's support for Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil too, which gives it extra utility for anyone using their iPad as a laptop alternative.
It's all underpinned by WhatsApp's multi-device tech, so your messages sync securely across your iPhone, Mac, and now iPad. And yes, privacy features like chat lock still apply here. As Meta puts it: "you can have private conversations in confidence even if you share your iPad with others."

The caveat? Not every iPad will get the full experience.
Stage Manager, for example, is only available on M2 iPads and a handful of Pro models.
And as polished as the app is, WhatsApp's iPad rollout still feels like a long-overdue move rather than a bold leap forward.
Still, it's a solid start. For many, that's more than enough. Download the WhatsApp app for your iPad on the App Store here.
