You've probably come across kids shouting "Tung Tung Tung Sahur!" or shown you an image of a shark while yelling "Tralalero Tralala".

You're witnessing the viral wave of Italian brainrot, a wildly surreal Internet trend that's taken over Gen Z and Alpha's digital lives.

Italian brainrot is the term for a genre of memes that exploded in early this year across TikTok, Instagram, and Discord.

They're bizarre, AI-generated animal hybrids with gibberish Italian names and over-the-top voiceovers. These characters are part of a fast-moving, global remix culture where chaos, humour, and artificial intelligence collide.

Here are some of the AI-generated characters at the heart of this online trend.

1. Tralalero Tralala

Widely considered the first and most iconic Italian brainrot meme, Tralalero Tralala is an AI-generated hybrid creature (often a shark with Nike sneakers) paired with a nursery rhyme-inspired, nonsensical Italian voiceover.

The character's name and catchphrase stem from a TikTok nursery rhyme "Trallallero Trallallà" and earlier Italian meme culture referencing Dwayne Johnson in 2023.

The original video is attributed to TikTok user @eZburger401, who posted it in January 2025. The account was later deleted, possibly due to the video's profane and blasphemous content.

2. Bombardiro Crocodilo

An AI-generated crocodile fused with a bomber plane, often dropping lasagna bombs on iconic Italian landmarks like the Vatican.

The meme is celebrated for its absurdity and chaotic visuals, with captions such as "He entered the Vatican in Crocs. The Pope bowed."

The character emerged from meme Discords and TikTok edits, not from a single creator, but popularised by the broader Italian brainrot community in early 2025.

3. Cappuccino Assassino

It's basically a cappucino cup posing as a ninja. The character is often depicted in exaggerated, violent, or nonsensical situations, narrated in broken Italian.

The character is a community-generated brainrot character that first appeared in TikTok and Discord meme circles in early 2025.

4. Tung Tung Tung Sahur

Characterised by repetitive, onomatopoeic Italian-sounding phrases and AI visuals, this meme became so popular that it was reportedly being adapted into a film by Indonesia's Dee Company in May 2025.

It's basically a wooden log that appears during pre-dawn Ramadan meals (sahur), but only when someone refuses to respond to repeated calls.

The meme emerged from the global remix culture around Italian brainrot in early 2025.

5. Ballerina Cappuccina

Ballerina Cappuccina is a poised ballerina whose head is quite literally a cappuccino.

Though she steers clear of battle, her role brings emotional nuance to the Brainrot universe.

Despite being the partner of Capuccino Assassino, many memes depict her cheating on him with Sahur.

6. Chimpanzini Bananini

Part banana, part monkey, Chimpanzini first gained fame as a viral audio clip before transforming into a glitch entity.

Following a showdown with Piccione Macchina, he became trapped in the human world, all thanks to TikTok.

7. Bombombini Gusini

Bombombini is a goose outfitted with jet engines and grenade launchers.

He originally fought alongside the croco faction but switched sides after discovering the existence of glitch realities. Enhanced by Lirilì Larilà, he took command of the bird forces and secured their victory, only to be taken out by Sahur.

His complex arc of defection and downfall has made him a favourite in fan-driven lore discussions.

The backstories for Italian brainrot characters are crowdsourced and ever-evolving

They're shaped by the collective imagination and remix culture of the online community.

While the initial images and names may come from specific users, the lore is built and constantly rewritten by fans across social media platforms.
