Spotify has announced a price hike worldwide for its Premium plans, which will take effect starting September

According to Reuters, the Swedish streaming giant said the price revision will affect users in select markets, including South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region — and that includes Malaysia.

Malaysian users can expect to pay RM1 to RM3 more across all Premium plans

Spotify said subscribers will receive an email notification about the price hikes over the next month.

It added that the new rates will apply immediately to new subscribers, and from the next billing cycle for existing users.

Here's what the updated Spotify Premium pricing looks like in Malaysia:

  • Individual Plan: RM15.90 to RM17.50 (RM1.60 increase)
  • Student Plan: RM8.50 to RM9.50 (RM1 increase)
  • Family Plan: RM24.90 to RM27.90 (RM3 increase)
  • Duo Plan: RM21.50 to RM24.50 (RM3 increase)

The last time Spotify adjusted its prices in Malaysia was in September 2023, when the Individual plan went from RM14.90 to RM15.90.
