Samsung's latest foldable smartphone proves evolution is better than revolution
You don't have to reinvent the wheel to turn heads; all you have to do is perfect it, and that is exactly what Samsung did with the latest Galaxy Z Fold7.
Samsung has achieved a remarkable feat with its latest flagship. While its impressively thin design is certainly noteworthy, an even more significant accomplishment lies in the near-seamless user experience across both the cover and main displays. And with its new AI-powered features, it's like having Iron Man's JARVIS right in the palm of your hand.
We spent a week with the Galaxy Z Fold7, and here's what we think
We remember how the earlier Folds used to look: clamshell-esque, with that signature wedge shape from the older folding mechanism. Samsung has done away with that, and the new Fold7 feels much flatter and sleeker.
In fact, it's quite possibly the thinnest foldable you can get right now, measuring just 8.9mm when folded. That's even thinner than the Fold6, and honestly, it's edging closer to the slim profile of a regular phone like the S25 Ultra.
And the way it feels in your hands? Absolutely premium, thanks to that lovely matte, frosted glass back panel. But here's the best part: despite being so incredibly thin, it doesn't feel flimsy or fragile at all. Samsung managed to keep it solid and well-built.
Unfolding the Fold7 unlocks a whole new world on the go
Unfold the Fold7, and boom — you're greeted by its vibrant 8-inch main display. Suddenly, your YouTube videos feel cinematic, while work files like spreadsheets and presentations are easier to read than ever. And honestly, your productivity might just shoot through the roof.
And that infamous crease? It's practically invisible. Unlike earlier generations, you'll have to really look to notice it. Plus, the display is incredibly bright, peaking at a whopping 2,600 nits. That means scrolling through your feeds or checking maps in broad daylight is no sweat at all.
But here's something truly unique, something most other smart devices can't offer: perfect compatibility with polarised sunglasses. You get an uninterrupted, crystal-clear view even with your shades on. No weird black-outs or dimming.
One possible gripe? The main display is a fingerprint magnet. Actually, the whole phone is. Thankfully, it's nothing a quick wipe with a screen cloth can't fix; no fancy cleaning solutions required.

The camera array on the Fold7 is no joke either
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 enters the photography arena with a formidable camera system, headlined by a 200MP main shooter — directly inherited from the acclaimed S25 Ultra, promising top-tier image quality.
On the back, you'll find a handy 10MP telephoto lens for those zoomed-in shots, and a 12MP ultrawide for capturing the full scene. For selfies and face unlock, both the main screen and the cover screen have their own crisp 10MP cameras, super convenient no matter how you're holding it.
However, packing such a comprehensive and high-resolution camera array comes with a trade-off: a pretty noticeable camera bump. Once the phone is unfolded, you can't lay it flat on its back. The only way it sits flush is face-down on that gorgeous main display… which, let's be honest, feels like a risky move.
For a foldable, the battery life is more than enough for daily use
The Z Fold7 packs a 4,400mAh battery, and while it doesn't use the newer silicon carbon tech, don't let that fool you.
We put it through its paces, mainly on that big, beautiful main display, and consistently got around 12 hours of real-world use. That's enough for an intense Balatro session, hours of YouTube, and even a couple of Netflix episodes before you'll need to reach for a charger.
When the battery runs dry, charging it takes less than two hours with an 18W charging adapter. Do keep in mind that Samsung no longer provides a charging brick in the box, a common trend in the smartphone market.
Powering all that smooth performance is a custom Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Whether you're doing intense image enhancement, powering through your productivity tasks, diving into demanding games, or just effortlessly juggling multiple apps all at once, this custom silicon makes sure everything runs incredibly smoothly and efficiently.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 comes in three colours, plus one exclusive colour
The Z Fold7 is offered in a choice of Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, and Jetblack. Plus, there's a cool Mint option, but you'll only find that one if you're ordering online!
