Usually, "mid-range" doesn't carry the same weight as a flagship, but the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G is making that gap feel a lot smaller
The Samsung Galaxy A57 5G comes with a sleek design, improved cameras, and a suite of AI-powered features, all backed by long-term software support for added peace of mind.
More importantly, it doesn't feel like a phone you're settling for just because of its price point.

We reviewed the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G in Awesome IcyBlue.

This is Samsung's slimmest Galaxy A ever, coming in at 6.9mm thin
Touting a more refined design, the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G is sleek, lightweight, and feels genuinely good in the hand.
The previous Galaxy A series phones measured 7.4mm thin, while the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G is even slimmer at just 6.9mm.

At 6.9mm thin, this is the slimmest Galaxy A phone yet.

Samsung has also trimmed down the bezels from 2.2mm to 1.5mm, giving the display a more immersive, edge-to-edge look. Paired with the Super AMOLED display, you get a truly immersive viewing experience.
The hero colour here is Awesome Navy, with Awesome Gray and Awesome IcyBlue available if you prefer something lighter.
The standout feature for me is the camera
I'll be honest, video and photo quality are the most important aspects of a phone for me. As such, I've always opted for flagships and don't usually expect much from mid-range options.
The A57 has changed that.
I took the Galaxy A57 on a #colourwalk through Chinatown, Petaling Street, and was impressed by how well it handled different lighting conditions. From dim indoor spaces to harsh, blazing outdoor sunlight, the colours looked vibrant and well-balanced, with a natural pop.
Its 50MP main sensor delivers sharp, detailed shots across varying environments. Powered by an upgraded Image Signal Processor (ISP) and advanced AI processing, the camera is designed to produce clearer, brighter photos and videos even in low light.
Disclaimer: Selfies were taken using the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra (except for the blue shot).

Even at 2x zoom, the Galaxy A57 is able to capture movement with clarity due to the increased shutter speed.

I put this to the test at my son's sports day, where he was running and jumping during his team relay race. The images were taken at 2x zoom and still came out sharp with no blur. I was so impressed.

Images come out clear, colours pop, and there's none of that grainy effect you usually get at night. In fact, the results often look better than what you see with the naked eye.
Looking back, it's honestly hard to even tell these were taken at around 9pm. The photos came out brighter than the places were IRL.

Samsung continues to roll out what it calls "Awesome Intelligence," bringing a suite of AI-powered features to the Galaxy A57
Through One UI 8.5, the device comes equipped with tools like Voice Transcription and AI Select, alongside photo editing features such as Object Eraser and Best Face. Familiar functions like Circle to Search, plus enhanced Bixby and Gemini integration, are also onboard.
It's practical, helpful, and easy to use, even if it's not something I find myself actively using all the time.
The Galaxy A57 is an excellent companion for day-to-day use
I've already spoken extensively about how good the camera capabilities are. In addition to that, apps open quickly, switching between tasks has no lag, and even casual gaming is excellent.
What stands out most to me is how consistent it is. No slowdowns, no overheating. You'll forget you're not using a flagship because it really feels so similar for daily tasks.
The long lasting battery helps a lot here too. I went a whole day without charging, taking photos and videos, going through work messages and emails, and doing light editing work, which says more than any benchmark score.
Samsung promises device longevity with up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, as well as six years of security updates
A phone that you don't have to replace after one or two years? That's a definite win.
At this price point, it feels like one of those no-brainer choices.
