The Central Database Hub (PADU) is evolving from a simple data collection tool into a sophisticated backend system
According to the New Straits Times, this transition aims to facilitate evidence-based policymaking through advanced analytics and more precise government interventions.
Economy minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said PADU now contains 30.7 million individual socio-economic profiles.
These profiles were built through a large-scale data integration process across various government agencies.

Originally developed for verification, PADU has completed its initial data collection phase
The system is now moving towards a dynamic operational model that supports real-time decision-making for the government.
Under this updated framework, government organisations will use the hub to access and verify data for policy development. Akmal Nasrullah noted that the focus had shifted towards how the platform is used for actual implementation.
"PADU is no longer just a platform to collect data. The focus now is on how we use the platform for implementation," he said.
So far, 26 agencies have been approved to use the system.
The feedback from these agencies were positive.

Reports indicated that PADU had reduced data verification workloads and processing times by up to 72% compared with previous methods
Currently, the system manages about 600 data points that are continuously updated from official sources. This ensures that government policies are supported by structured analysis rather than just estimates or projections.
Akmal Nasrullah explained that relying only on raw data could lead to assumptions without proper analytics.
"Without analytics, relying only on raw data can lead to assumptions. Forming hypotheses or building understanding still requires expertise in statistics and data analysis," he added.
The minister stated that some updates occurred in real time, while others are refreshed periodically. This makes the hub a dynamic platform for managing the nation's socio-economic data effectively.
