Malaysians Lost RM19 Million To Online Scams In The First Three Months Of 2025
Online scams are on the rise in Malaysia, and the numbers are alarming.
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has revealed that losses from online purchase fraud have exceeded RM19 million in just the first three months of 2025
That's a sharp increase from last year, with reported cases rising nearly 37%, Bernama reported.
Bukit Aman's Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) acting director, Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa, disclosed that 2,328 cases were recorded between 1 January and 24 March, compared to 1,700 during the same period in 2024.

The financial losses have also surged, up from RM13.66 million last year
With these figures in mind, authorities are urging consumers to exercise greater caution, especially with the festive season approaching.
Too-good-to-be-true deals often are, and PDRM is reminding online shoppers to stick to reputable platforms and conduct thorough checks before making any transactions.
