Moonton Games has officially announced a landmark partnership with Tonton for the upcoming Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia Season 17
This collaboration signifies a shift in how esports is consumed locally, elevating the professional league from a digital niche into a mainstream entertainment powerhouse.
By naming Tonton — Malaysia's first homegrown video streaming service — as the official broadcast home, the league is bridging the gap between traditional entertainment and competitive gaming.
While viewing remains available on platforms like YouTube and TikTok, Tonton will offer fans a curated experience that includes exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, in-depth player interviews, and high-level strategic analysis.
The regular season is scheduled to kick off on 3 April and will run until 24 May
Fans can look forward to high-stakes matches involving some of the most prominent names in the region.
The defending champions, Selangor Red Giants, return to protect their throne against a fierce lineup of challengers, including the newly formed Team Vamos and regional giants RRQ Tora.
Tonton's involvement opens up a new avenue of exclusive content for fans
Fikri Rizal Mahruddin, General Manager of Tonton Product & Business Development, said that this collaboration will diversify content for fans.
"Tonton will have a sort of behind-the-scenes content and team activities," said Fikri.
"We are also launching something really special that will involve not just Moonton and MPL Malaysia, but will also involve the teams that are playing in MPL Malaysia," he added.
He concluded by teasing the fans with a contest.
"I think the most exciting thing for fans and the community of MPL Malaysia is that we will be running a watch-and-win contest.
"So, the more that you watch MPL Malaysia on Tonton, the higher the reward that you'll receive. We will be announcing it soon."

With matches often scheduled for 5pm and 8.15pm, the excitement is expected to reach a fever pitch as the teams battle for glory and a spot in the upcoming international tournaments.
