The Digital Ministry and Microsoft have announced the launch of Microsoft Elevate, a national initiative to sharpen the country's AI skills
Officiated by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo today, 24 April, the partnership aligns with the AI Nation 2030 vision.
It targets everyone from teachers and small-business owners to retired personnel.
The programme, a joint effort with the National AI Office (NAIO) and the Biji-biji Initiative, aims to ensure that no Malaysian is left behind as the world shifts towards an AI-driven economy.

Since its pilot phase began in January, the initiative reached 80,000 learners across the country
This builds on Microsoft's previous efforts to train over one million Malaysians in digital skills.
"As Malaysia accelerates its ambition to become a regional AI hub, building digital capabilities that reach every segment of our society is essential," said Gobind.
The digital minister added that achieving whole-of-nation progress will require strong collaboration between the public and private sectors. The roadmap for Microsoft Elevate extends through 2030.

Biji-biji Initiative Group CEO Rashvin Pal Singh noted that for AI to have a real impact, it must be accessible in classrooms and communities
"Through Microsoft Elevate, we are working closely with the National AI Office and Sekretariat Majlis TVET Negara to translate AI from a concept into everyday practice," Rashvin said.
Microsoft ASEAN General Manager for Legal and Government Affairs Jasmine Begum emphasised that technology is merely an enabler.
"AI can only deliver real value when people across society understand how to use it meaningfully and responsibly in their everyday work and decision‑making. Technology is an enabler, while impact comes from how individuals, organisations, and institutions apply AI in ways that are practical, trusted, and relevant to real‑world needs," she said.
