Maybank has revealed that it processed over RM4 trillion worth of digital transactions in the past five years — an amount equal to double Malaysia's gross domestic product (GDP)
According to the bank, this milestone highlights Malaysians' growing trust in digital banking and the success of its MAE app, which now serves 10.7 million users nationwide.
Since its launch in 2020, the MAE app has become Malaysia's number one mobile banking app, offering both lifestyle and financial tools in one place. Maybank currently leads the nation in key PayNet services, including DuitNow transfers, QR payments, FPX, and JomPAY.
Taufik Albar, Maybank's Group CEO of Community Financial Services, said digital innovation has always been part of the bank's DNA, adding that the bank holds 48% of Malaysia's mobile banking transaction volume, proving MAE's strong position in the market.

Since then, the bank has continued to lead in cashless transactions, through features like Maybank Scan & Pay that allow users to instantly send and receive payments at zero transaction fee.
As of August 2025, the total number of Scan & Pay transactions performed via the MAE App grew 51 times, as compared to 2020. And in 2024 alone, Maybank recorded a 26% increase in new merchant sign-ups, making the feature available at more eateries and retail outlets nationwide.

"The MAE App has redefined everyday banking, blending lifestyle and financial features in one app," said Giorgio Migliarina, Maybank's Group Chief Technology and Digital Officer.
He also said users have created nearly eight million Tabung through the app, strengthening their savings habits and long-term financial planning.
Additionally, he highlighted that nine out of 10 MAE Wallet users actively use the feature for daily transactions, citing its strong security and convenience.
To mark the app's fifth anniversary, Maybank is launching the MAE Turns 5 campaign
