A Facebook user's post recently drew the attention of netizens, as the person recounted their experience being trapped during the severe floods that hit southern Thailand

According to a post shared on 𝗛𝗧𝗟-合艾生活旅游分享 HATYAI Travelling & Lifestyle, user GoldCelery771 highlighted how a single phone helped their group navigate to safety.
The group of 20 — which included pregnant women, elderly individuals, and children — had spent two days stranded at the Chana PTT petrol station.
With no line signal, they were practically cut off from the outside world
"We were stuck at the Chana petrol station for two days, where there was no line signal and we couldn't communicate with the outside world at all. Even if the water in Dannok had receded, no one would have known," shared the user.
Their luck changed thanks to one person carrying an HONOR Magic 7 Pro, which could intermittently pick up data
"At the Chana PTT petrol station, there was food, water, and electricity, but no data, and phone calls couldn't go through. So we had to drive along the road for 2km searching for a signal," the user elaborated.
The group typed messages in advance and sent them whenever the phone briefly connected. This allowed them to receive critical information from friends and local guidance on safer routes.
During one of those short windows, the phone's owner managed to reach a friend who shared crucial information: Dannok was still accessible.
"Following the route given by the locals, we successfully reached Dannok," they said
Using a small mountain road to avoid flooded main streets and checking directions via Google Maps whenever possible, the group of five cars carrying about 20 people eventually made it out safely.
The Malaysian tourist ended their post with a message for others still trapped nearby, hoping fellow Malaysians stranded around Chana would see the update and find a safe way out too
The story has since resonated online, highlighting both the severity of the floods in Southern Thailand and how, in emergencies, even limited technology, paired with teamwork and local help, can make a life-saving difference.
