A Malaysian news app has made politics more engaging by turning parliament into a virtual playground and the subject of a viral anime video
Lumi News Malaysia recently launched 'Parliament Playground', an interactive experience on its app that lets you explore the Dewan Rakyat.
You can tap around to uncover fun facts, discover hidden animations, and even bang the speaker's gavel.
The feature is part of the company's mission to make news and politics more relatable and accessible, especially for a younger, social-savvy audience.

This is not the first time Lumi News has used creative formats to cover politics
In July, the team released an anime-inspired video reimagining Malaysian members of parliament (MPs) as anime characters, which has since gone viral.
The short clip, which blends original animation with real footage from parliamentary proceedings, has garnered over 449,000 views across its social media platforms. The original artwork and animation were created by Lumi News design lead Rachel Anyi and 3D artist Hanis Saifullah.
"This is just the start. We're looking forward to adding even more features in the upcoming parliamentary sittings to keep everyone informed and entertained," said Izzah Hazim, a senior content specialist at Lumi News Malaysia.

The 'Parliament Playground' is housed within a dedicated Parliament tab on the Lumi News app, where users can also find live streams and news updates from trusted local publishers
"We did not want Parliament to feel like a faraway, closed-off institution," said Lee Jo Wern, a product manager at Lumi News.
"With 'Parliament Playground', we're opening doors virtually and adding a cheeky twist so that people can learn something new and have fun at the same time."
