A mobile phone trader in Tripoli, Libya, has finally received a shipment of Nokia handsets originally ordered in 2010

The arrival follows an extraordinary 16-year delay caused by the protracted civil conflict that gripped the nation for over a decade.

The devices finally arrived at his storefront on 12 January 2026, ending an exhaustive wait for the merchant who had long since written off the consignment.

This unusual occurrence gained significant traction on social media after the trader recorded a video documenting the unboxing of the vintage handsets

According to local media reports, the order was initially placed just before political tensions in Libya escalated into a full-scale civil war, which effectively paralysed the country's logistics and postal infrastructure.

Models that were considered cutting-edge or standard communication tools in 2010 are now regarded as obsolete relics in the era of high-performance smartphones

In his viral video, the trader expressed a mixture of shock and amusement as he inspected the pristine, albeit dated, technology.

"After waiting for 16 years, these phones have finally arrived; I truly never expected this to happen," the trader remarked during the recording.

In the Malaysian secondary market, "new old stock" Nokia devices have transcended their status as obsolete tech to become high-value nostalgic assets

A pristine, unopened Nokia 3310 (the 2000 original) can fetch anywhere between RM800 to RM1,500 among local collectors who prize its "indestructible" reputation and minimalist appeal.

Meanwhile, the Nokia N95 — once the king of "multimedia computers" — is seeing a massive resurgence in the "Y2K aesthetic" scene, with sealed units easily commanding RM2,500 to RM3,500 from enthusiasts looking to recapture the early smartphone era.
