The electric vehicle landscape is constantly evolving, with manufacturers working to address the common concerns of range anxiety and charging inconvenience that plagued earlier generations
We took on the task of testing this claim by spending a weekend with the Leapmotor B10, and we came away genuinely impressed.

Right from the start, the B10 impresses with its sheer size and thoughtful design
Planning our trip to Melaka, we were struck by the spacious boot, which effortlessly swallowed up to six luggage bags. A major plus for everyday usability is the low boot lip, which makes loading heavy items — like a week's worth of groceries — a breeze, with no awkward lifting required. The boot closes easily with the touch of a button.

While there is extra storage in the front (a frunk), it pales in comparison to the B10's massive rear cargo area.

The sense of space continues inside the cabin. The legroom is truly massive, giving the interior a cavernous, airy feel. Comfortably fitting five adults is a simple ask for the B10.

Enhanced by natural light flooding in from the sunroof, the cabin never feels cramped, even on a long journey.

The car is loaded with simple-to-use tech for both the modern driver and those who prefer a more traditional approach
As is standard with modern EVs, the driver is greeted by a monolithic 14.6-inch infotainment console. This large screen functions as seamlessly as a modern smartphone or tablet — it's highly responsive and clear, eliminating frustrating lags when navigating or loading maps.

While the car has its own navigation app, the console is fully equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This ensures seamless integration, making apps like Waze or Spotify feel intuitive, just as they would on your phone. For passengers, the car provides convenient USB-C ports for charging, offering respectable charging speeds.

The sizeable screen also proves essential for safety and manoeuvrability. The car's 360-degree camera system elevates spatial awareness, making it significantly easier and safer to navigate tight spots such as crowded parking lots and steep ramps.
Speaking of safety, the B10 is loaded with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
Essentially, it provides 'extra eyes', offering alerts if you're too close to the car ahead or drifting out of your lane — a welcome feature, especially when fatigue sets in after a long drive.
Our drive to Melaka was notably stress-free thanks to the smooth integration of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Centering Control (LCC). Unlike the aggressive, jerky systems found in some other brands, Leapmotor has tuned its ACC to be remarkably smooth. Our passengers reported no motion sickness, a common complaint with the sometimes-abrupt braking and acceleration in certain EVs.

For those who prefer a more engaged driving experience, all assists can be easily turned off, allowing you to enjoy the pure, inherently smooth dynamics of the EV powertrain — which, in the B10, is genuinely enjoyable.
The ride comfort is further enhanced by Leapmotor's 'continental-tuning' on the suspension.
Hitting bumps felt negligible, and the comfortable seats elevated the entire journey experience. The drive to Melaka in the B10 was truly a treat.
Range anxiety was never an issue during our drives
Our test unit, the higher-end Design model, is equipped with a 67.1kWh battery. During our testing, this translated to a reliable range of up to 395km on a single charge. Crucially, our trip from Petaling Jaya to Melaka consumed only about 45% of the battery charge.

On a longer road trip, charging breaks become quick pit stops
We were able to stop for a quick dinner, and by the time we were finished, the car had enough charge to comfortably continue the journey. We clocked less than 30 minutes to charge the car from 40% to 100% using a 60kWh charging station. The B10 is capable of even faster charging thanks to its 168kWh charging capability, allowing it to reach 80% from 30% in roughly just 15 minutes.

If you're in the market for a car that offers a modern experience, significant savings on fuel costs, and the peace of mind that comes with the latest safety technology, the Leapmotor B10 is a serious contender
Priced competitively between RM107,800 and RM118,800, the B10 offers features typically reserved for premium SUVs — including a panoramic roof, electric seats, and a high-tech cabin feel — all at a price point significantly lower than many luxury competitors.

It is distributed by Stellantis, the group behind brands like Peugeot and Jeep in Malaysia, ensuring a legitimate network for servicing and assistance.

With an impressive six-year or 150,000km warranty on the car and a substantial eight-year or 160,000km warranty on the battery, the Leapmotor B10 offers absolute peace of mind, making it a compelling choice for your next family vehicle.
