1. The J5 is a compact yet powerful SUV

Under the bonnet, the JAECOO J5 is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 108kW (147PS) and 210Nm of torque.

This powerplant utilises advanced intake integrated intercooling and an integrated exhaust manifold (IEM) to maximise thermal efficiency.

Mated to a smooth-shifting Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), the vehicle achieves a fuel consumption rating of 6.4l per 100km, earning it the Malaysian Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) certification.

2. Despite its compact size, it will still turn heads

The J5 measures 4,380mm in length and sits on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, offering a commanding road presence despite its compact dimensions.

Its structural integrity is underpinned by high-tensile steel, providing a class-leading torsional rigidity of 23,500Nm/deg.

To ensure a polished ride, the engineers utilised a MacPherson strut front suspension and a sophisticated multi-link rear system to enhance lateral stability across diverse road conditions.

3. Inside the cabin, the J5 introduces several segment-first features

This includes a massive 1.45m² panoramic moonroof and double-glazed front windows designed to isolate exterior noise.

The interior is notably "pet-friendly", featuring TÜV-certified leatherette upholstery that is both anti-bacterial and scratch-resistant — making it a practical choice for animal owners.
