Instagram is finally rolling out a long-awaited feature
The new feature allows users to watch Reels at up to 2x speed, making it easier to breeze through content quickly.
While speeding up one-minute Reels might seem unnecessary, Instagram recently extended the maximum Reel length to three minutes. With longer videos becoming more common, the 2x speed option could be useful. More importantly, it's a feature many users have been asking for.
Here's how you can activate the feature:
To watch an Instagram Reel at double speed, simply press and hold either the right or left side of the screen while it's playing. The Reel will then play at 2x speed until you release your finger.
Currently, 2x is the only speed option available. However, you can still skip forward in the Reel as usual to quickly get to the most important parts.
The 2x speed feature for Instagram Reels isn't available to everyone yet. However, Instagram has confirmed that all users should have access to it by the end of the week.
The rollout of the 2x speed feature on Instagram Reels seems to be happening gradually. Although Instagram said it would be available by Thursday, 27 March, some users have yet to receive it.
We tested the feature on Instagram using an iPhone, but were unable to get it to work as of Friday afternoon.
