As the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) continues to showcase futuristic tech, ASUS has carved out its own niche in the portable gaming market
In partnership with Xreal, ASUS has announced the ROG Xreal R1, a pair of Extended Reality (XR) glasses designed to transform handheld gaming into a massive, immersive cinema experience.

The ROG Xreal R1 aims to address the issue of small screens on portable devices like the Steam Deck or the ASUS ROG Ally
By connecting the glasses via a single USB-C cable, users get a massive 171-inch virtual screen (perceived from a virtual distance of 4m) with a 57° field of view.

Key hardware highlights include a 240Hz micro-OLED 1080p lenses for ultra-smooth, high-fidelity visuals, built-in high-quality Bose speakers, and a dedicated ROG Control Dock, offering HDMI and DisplayPort support for PCs and laptops.
The glasses weigh only 91g and feature automatic lens tinting to adjust to different ambient lighting conditions.

ASUS positions these glasses as the ultimate accessory for the modern on-the-go gamer
Whether you are sitting on a sofa or travelling on a plane, the R1 allows you to bypass the physical limitations of your device's screen.
The high refresh rate of 240Hz is particularly notable, as it matches the performance of high-end gaming monitors, ensuring that fast-paced AAA titles remain crisp and responsive.

While ASUS has yet to confirm a price, the company said the ROG Xreal R1 is expected to launch within the first half of 2026
This timeline suggests that gamers won't have to wait long to experience the next evolution in portable displays.
