Rumours about the marriage of national footballer Faisal Halim surfaced today, 2 September, after his wife, Nur Syazwani Mizuana Shahril, was listed in a case mention at the Klang Syariah Lower Court
The court's info board showed the case involving the couple was scheduled for mention at 2.30pm today, according to Harian Metro.
Harian Metro confirmed Faisal's presence at the court this afternoon, with sources saying the Selangor FC winger had received permission from national head coach Peter Cklamovski to attend the proceeding.
Faisal is currently in training with the Harimau Malaya squad.
Meanwhile, Stadium Astro shared a photo of the case mention, showing both Faisal and his wife's names in the information sheet, with 'permohonan perceraian' (divorce application) listed alongside.
Adding to the speculation, a review of Faisal's Instagram account showed that photos of Syazwani have been deleted.
While Faisal has not issued any statement regarding the matter, Syazwani uploaded a few Instagram stories today
In one of the stories, she wrote:
"The life I live today is based on what I have been through and my own experiences. I am the one who knows my life best. I have sacrificed my whole soul for my family, through hardships to success, from being unknown to becoming admired, from sickness to health and back to my best self. It hasn't been easy for me. In fact, this isn't the first time; I have been divorced before. I tried to hold on, but there was too much interference and obstacles in my life. The action I am taking today is not an easy decision. I have done my best, and this is the best path. My mother was asked to take me, and I have been returned to her. Even though it is heavy on my heart, I followed her wishes."
The post suggests she has made a difficult personal decision, emphasising her sacrifices for her family and hinting at prior experiences with divorce.
She also appeared to acknowledge the rumours through her Instagram story, sharing messages of encouragement sent to her by friends.
Faisal and Syazwani married on 9 March 2019 and have a 6-year-old son together
The winger made headlines last year after surviving a brutal acid attack on 5 May 2024, which left him with fourth-degree burns on several parts of his body.
He was treated in the ICU for about 10 days and underwent four surgeries before being discharged from a private hospital on 25 May, according to Selangor FC.
Currently, Faisal remains with the national team as they prepare for two upcoming international friendlies — against Singapore on Thursday and Palestine next Monday.
