In a post on X, Diallo admitted that while he shouldn't have reacted in such a manner, he stands by his actions.
"I have respect for people, but not for the one who insults my mum. I shouldn't have reacted like that, but I don't regret what I did.
"We had a great time in Malaysia with good people," he wrote.
The English Premier League team was in Malaysia for a friendly against the ASEAN All-Stars as part of their post-season Asia tour. The match, held at Bukit Jalil National Stadium on Wednesday, 28 May, ended with a 1-0 win for the All-Stars.
However, after the match, Diallo was caught on video pointing a middle finger towards fans outside the team's hotel
According to The Guardian, Manchester United later confirmed that Diallo had made the gesture after experiencing "serious personal abuse".
The incident has sparked mixed opinions online, with many showing their support for Diallo, while others called his behaviour unprofessional for a public figure

Meanwhile, some Malaysian fans dispute his account, with video footage suggesting Diallo made the gesture immediately after stepping off the team bus
Others claim there was no hostility from the crowd, believing he may have misinterpreted their cheers and chants.
