The Japanese have a creative way of making toasts. They love it so much they make them into blocks!

Traditionally, japanese toasts are made in a simple fashion. Just drizzle it with honey and it's good to go. But in today's modern culture of wanting everything on top of everything, places like UCC and Cafe Shibuya in Manila are producing massive Japanese toasts with a lot of toppings.

It's called "shaved ice" in general. You might know it more as "Bingsu" in Korean or "Kakigori" in Japanese. They all mean the same: a bowl of delicately shaved ice with toppings of your choice. It's the same concept as Filipino "halo-halo." The only difference is that the ice is very fine. It's comparable to snow. That's why some call it "snow ice."

Places like Kozui Green Tea Cafe, Magpie Cafe in Maginhawa and Ikigai Kakigori all have good matcha shaved ice. They're usually topped with either red beans, ice cream and even rice cake. YUM!

If you're a really big fan of matcha, you can't go through life without tasting J.CO's matcha donuts.

Yes, it's a commercialized chain store and yes, the long lines you see at the malls would make you scratch your head and sigh in disbelief. But do you know why the lines are long? They are amazing..

The green tea on top tasted like matcha white chocolate. The dough was really soft and there was a very light cream filling which paired well with the sweet matcha glaze.

There's this cool brand on the market right now. It's called "Up In The Clouds." They make small-batch artisanal ice cream, specializing in unique and exciting flavors, crafted locally.

I love their Perfect Match-a. I like that the matcha flavors were more prominent but it was still very creamy. They deliver to your doorstep as well!
