The Indonesian Youth and Sports Minister, who had earlier praised the KL2017 Opening Ceremony, tweeted that the grand opening ceremony was marred by a "deeply hurtful fatal negligence"

Furthermore, while speaking to Indonesia's state-run news agency Antara, Imam said that, *"We will definitely protest. We are also waiting for a direct apology from the government of Malaysia. How can such a big and special event be tarnished by this?*

*"This is really very careless and we are very, very disappointed. This has injured us as a great nation … It should not be allowed to happen again, especially as this is a very open event, watched by millions of eyes. Of course, we regret this incident."*

Khairy will be paying a courtesy call to Imam later today to further extend the apology, the Malaysia SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC) has said. Khairy is MASOC Chairman.

*"We would like to sincerely apologise to the people of Indonesia for the inadvertent error of publishing the wrong flag for Indonesia.*

*"We very much regret the mistake and trust the strong bond between the two countries will further strengthen in the spirit of the SEA Games,"* MASOC said.
