How This Little Girl Inspired Parents To Let Children Be Children
She shaved her head like Eleven from Stranger Things whom she met at Asia Pop Comicon in Manila. Why was her mom in tears?

Czyka Tumaliuan wrote a heart warming Facebook post about her daughter Sophie who shaved her head for AsiaPOP Comicon.
She tells her followers that Sophie is a big fan of Millie Bobby Brown who plays "Eleven" in the hit Netflix Sci-Fi series "Stranger Things."
She adds that it's Sophie's gift to Millie Bobby Brown.
"My daughter shaved her head for AsiaPOP Comicon to look like her favorite character from the Netflix science fiction series Stranger Things. Millie Bobby Brown, the actress who played the role of Eleven in the show, is in Manila, and Sophie cut her hair as a gift for her. "

Sophie is fully aware that Millie was just acting and had shaved her head for a job
"I already told Sophie that Millie was just acting, that her hair is like that for a job, but Sophie said that she wanted to feel that she has superpowers, like her idol Eleven and Roald Dahl's Matilda."
Sophie's mom received criticism for letting her daughter shave her hair but Sophie consoled her and said "Stop thinking about what other people will think about me. Just think that I have superpowers."
"But, this choice was met with defiance and outrage. I'm not surprised. People expect girls like Sophie to have long, silky hair and wear rhinestone-laden dresses. People expect little girls to look like a Walt Disney princess. But my Sophie isn't a princess. She's a WARRIOR. A super.
I was crying in the cab on the way to Comicon as I receive the blows of opposition for her choice. To console me, Sophie hugged me and whispered, "Stop thinking about what other people will think about me. Just think that I have superpowers."
She adds how we should let children be children and have a "safe place" for them to be themselves
"As parents, I think it's crucial that we build a safe space for our children where they can hold a lightsaber and use the force on you, a universe where they can wear a dress even if they are expected to wear a suit and tie, a place where they can go naked, and be totally vulnerable with confidence.
Every kid needs a home where they can be whoever they want to be without being shamed and tagged as a freak. Every kid needs an oasis that they can always turn to when the real world sucks the life out them. As parents, WE MUST BE THIS REFUGE. As parents, WE MUST BE OUR CHILDREN'S SANCTUARY.
If your kids tell you that they have powers or magic, believe them. Look them in the eye, and tell them that you believe them with all your heart and mean it. The world needs more dreamers, more supers, more warriors. We must let our kids do things out of love, fun and faith, not fear."
