We mean it, and we know it — police checkpoints can become really stressful.
So here are helpful tips for you to nail that checkpoint encounter!
1. Make sure that it's a REAL checkpoint
Real checkpoints are usually in an area that can be easily seen. Officers should wear a police uniform.
2. Dim you headlights and turn on your cabin lights when doing a menor or gentle acceleration
3. DO NOT LEAVE your car
4. Make sure to LOCK all the doors of your car. Officers can only do a VISUAL SEARCH.
5. NEVER agree to a body search
6. You do not need to always open your compartment
7. Be respectful and DO NOT PANIC
8. Ready your license and car registration
9. Bring your mobile phone with you all the time so you can contact emergency numbers and your family (in case the checkpoint is a fraud)
10. Report to authorities if there are violations, or if the officer wants you to bribe him/her
