A woman in Pahang was left bitterly disappointed after her nasi kukus order, which cost RM16, arrived minus the fried chicken

Taking to Facebook, the woman shared a photo of her meal, which consisted of rice, curry gravy, sambal, cucumber slices, and a salted egg, but not a single piece of chicken in sight.

The order cost her RM20.74 including delivery.

What frustrated her even more wasn't just the missing chicken, but the fact that she had politely left a note with her order asking the restaurant staff to double-check it before sending it out.

"A few days ago, I ordered your salted egg nasi lemak, but there was no salted egg inside. Please check the order carefully this time, thank you," she wrote in the order placed via a food delivery app.

Despite the reminder, she suspects that the staff might have reacted with pettiness

"I paid RM20.74 including delivery, and this is what I get for leaving a reminder. Are the staff at this restaurant trying to mess with me?" the woman wrote in her now-viral post.

Her post struck a chord with many Malaysians, who sympathised with her and shared their own food delivery frustrations

One person suggested reporting the incident through the delivery platform's helpline to get a refund.

"File a complaint. You'll usually get a full refund in the form of a voucher. If they do it again, report them again. That's why I prefer using apps; once I file a report, I make sure I get my money back."

Another slammed the staff's behaviour, especially if it was done on purpose.

"If the staff did this just to mess with a customer, that's just rude and unprofessional. I hope their boss sees this and takes action," the commenter said.

Others pointed out that restaurant owners are often unaware of what goes on behind the scenes, finding out only when issues go viral.

"Staff sabotage the business and walk away, while the boss is left picking up the pieces."

However, another person noted that business owners can't claim ignorance.

At the time of writing, it's unclear if the woman has received a refund.
