Datuk Seri Who Allegedly Assaulted Woman In Road Rage Attack Released On Bail
Police are still investigating two key aspects of the case.
The 41-year-old local businessman with a 'Datuk Seri' title, who was arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman with a pistol during a road rage attack in Penang, has been released on police bail
Northeast district police chief ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad confirmed the suspect was released after police completed their initial investigation, reported the New Straits Times.
The man had turned himself in on Tuesday, 3 June, two days after the incident.
Police are still investigating two key aspects of the case — whether the suspect was intoxicated during the assault, and the allegation that he shoved the pistol into the victim's mouth.
"All these are pending investigations," Abdul Rozak said, adding that it could not be determined if the man was under the influence of alcohol as he surrendered himself two days after the incident.
Earlier, the 28-year-old victim claimed she was followed by the suspect's vehicle after a minor road dispute and eventually assaulted near a petrol station along Jalan Kelawei in George Town
She alleged the man struck her with a pistol, inserted the weapon into her mouth, and beat her repeatedly with both the firearm and his fists, causing serious injuries to her face.
