Malaysian Student Accused Of Selling AI-Generated Porn Made From Schoolmates' Photos
The suspect allegedly sold the illicit content in a Telegram channel with 200 members.
A male student in Johor has been accused of selling pornographic material generated from schoolmates' photos
In a statement yesterday, 8 April, Foon Yew High School, an independent Chinese school in Kulai, confirmed that it is cooperating with the police after victims filed police reports against the suspect.
The school management said it received complaints alleging that a male student had uploaded and disseminated deepfake photos and videos of the school's female students and alumni on social media platforms using artificial intelligence (AI) tools, causing distress and harm to the victims involved.
"Upon receiving the reports, the school took immediate action by conducting an internal investigation and is cooperating with the police to follow up on this matter," the statement read.
The suspect allegedly sold the illicit content online in a Telegram channel with 200 members
Social media posts exposing the incident claimed that the channel consisted of only male members, many of whom had left obscene remarks about the victims' manipulated photos, reported China Press.
The AI-generated photos and videos also made their way to X. One post reportedly gained over 10,000 views, and many others received at least 2,000 views.
Some netizens blamed the victims for posting their photos online, while others described the victims as "meals" meant to be eaten.
Multiple victims, including some from the high school's alumni, have condemned the suspect's actions, saying their decency and privacy had been violated.
One victim expressed her distress, saying she was afraid her photos would be widely disseminated and seen by her family.
"This incident has really affected me emotionally. I can't sleep well every night, and I keep having nightmares.
"I really hope this matter can be resolved soon and the perpetrators can be caught as soon as possible. I believe the police will definitely handle this matter properly and give us victims justice. Thank you to all the seniors and alumni who have helped us. Thank you to the media for reporting on this matter, allowing more people to understand the seriousness of this issue."
Another victim wrote, "Regarding the Telegram group, it's really disgusting. There are so many disgusting things inside. There are also many photos of female students in our school being maliciously edited. Some are still studying, and some have graduated. There are even photos of me inside. I really feel very scared and helpless. I really don't understand why such disgusting people exist in our school. "
There are also allegations that several individuals are involved; some are responsible for using AI to manipulate the photos, and others for selling them on Telegram.

Meanwhile, one victim criticised the teachers' alleged lack of seriousness in resolving the matter
"To a certain disciplinary teacher who claims to have been a US police officer before, please don't disgrace the police force, okay?
"As a teacher, especially a disciplinary teacher, when senior female students asked you to accompany them to the police station, how could you say, 'It's none of my business, I'm not the teacher handling this matter'?
"When you arrived at the police station, how could you say, 'He's just a child' and 'He's just not in a good mental state; he just needs some counselling'?
"I have the right and freedom to post whatever photos I want on my own social media; that is not a reason for you to harm me, and don't use such ridiculous reasons to morally blackmail me. Isn't this also victim-blaming?" China Press quoted the victim as saying.

Kulai district police chief ACP Tan Seng Lee confirmed receiving the victims' police reports
According to Malaysiakini, Kulai member of parliament Teo Nie Ching's special assistant Yong Hui Yi had accompanied several victims to lodge police reports over the past few days.
One victim is expected to hold a press conference this Saturday, 12 April, to share her account of the incident.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson told China Press that the school had been aware of the issue since before the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays, and that it had no intention to hide it from the public.
The school also urged the public to refrain from speculating or discussing unverified information to avoid further harm to the victims and hindering the police investigation.
