A man was killed in a tragic accident after a lorry rammed into his motorcycle at a traffic light along Jalan Banting–KLIA on Wednesday afternoon, 14 May

According to Kuala Langat district police chief Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi, the fatal collision occurred at around 1.30pm as both vehicles were heading towards KLIA.

"The motorcyclist had stopped at a traffic light intersection when the lorry ploughed into him from the rear," Akmalrizal said in a statement issued today, 15 May.

"The impact caused the rider to be flung off his motorcycle and pinned under the axle of the lorry. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene," he added.

Dashcam footage that has since gone viral shows the lorry ramming directly into the victim before running him over without stopping. All five wheels on the left side of the heavy vehicle were seen rolling over the man and his motorcycle as the lorry continued moving forward, sparking outrage online.

The victim was a KLIA ground operations staff member with POS Aviation and certified to handle dangerous goods, according to his employee card

Two IDs found at the scene, a KLIA Terminal 1 staff pass and a Dangerous Goods Card issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), confirmed his role in airport logistics, refuting initial claims circulating online that he was a courier rider.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department's assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar confirmed that firemen had to extricate the victim from beneath the 10-tonne lorry before he was pronounced dead.

The lorry driver has since lodged a police report and had his statement recorded. Authorities have also seized the lorry for technical inspection as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police have opened a case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, reported the New Straits Times.
