Mohd Taufik Ariff Sariff was run over by a BMW driver.
A kind man, who voluntarily redirected traffic following a fatal accident on an expressway in Johor, was tragically struck and killed by a 25-year-old BMW driver suspected of being under the influence
According to the New Straits Times, 37-year-old e-hailing driver Mohd Taufik Ariff Sariff stepped out of his vehicle on Jalan Johor Baru-Kota Tinggi at 2.10am today, 13 April, to help a motorcyclist who had just been involved in an accident.
FMT reported that the motorcyclist, a Myanmar national, had just died from head injuries in the right lane at KM16 of the expressway.
Seri Alam police chief ACP Sohaimi Ishak said Taufik took it upon himself to redirect traffic at the scene while waiting for emergency services to arrive.
"However, a BMW driven by a 25-year-old man suddenly struck him, causing serious internal injuries," said Sohaimi.
The kind man died at the scene, while the BMW driver sustained minor injuries to his face.

Taufik's wife, Suhaidah Yusof, witnessed the accident inside their vehicle
She recounted that they were on their way home to Bakar Batu after dining with friends in Taman Desa Cemerlang, reported the New Straits Times.
"My husband told me to pull over when he saw the motorcycle debris. He just wanted to help the motorcyclist.
"There were others who also stopped to assist and manage traffic, but he told me to stay inside the car.
"Seconds later, I heard a loud crash. People rushed over and told me that he (Taufik) had been hit," she said at the Sultan Ismail Hospital's forensics unit today.
Suhaidah shared that this Hari Raya Aidilfitri was their first celebration as a married couple following their wedding in September last year.
She recalled her husband appearing distant the night before the tragedy, saying, "I didn't expect that would be our last outing."
