Tucked away on the upper floor of a shop lot in Sea Park, Petaling Jaya, is a cosy little hideaway for anyone who needs a break from… well, everyone

Eternyl Vinyl Café is what happens when you cross the warm glow of an indie film with the satisfying crackle of a vinyl record.
The brainchild of 21-year-old Lau Jay Earn, or Jay, this little haven was born out of his lifelong love for music and culture.
Best known for running Subang Jaya's thrift store Beyond Encore, Jay wanted to translate the comfort of his own music corner, lined with vinyl records and cassette tapes, into a café where people could slow down, disconnect from screens, and enjoy music in its most authentic form.

The name itself is a playful mash-up of "eternal" and "vinyl", a reminder that good music never really dies… it lingers with us like a memory.
Each listening booth comes with everything you need for a perfect vinyl escape
The setup is simple: an Audio-Technica turntable, a pair of noise-cancelling headphones, and a comfy seat just for you.
No strangers. No forced smiles. Just you, a vinyl of your choice (from their collection of over 500, with more languages and genres on the way), and 90 minutes to disappear into music (RM20).
Not ready to face the outside world? You can add another 60 minutes for RM10, if there's space.

Every booth has easy-to-follow visual guides, and the staff are always on hand to walk you through the process, from handling a record to lowering the needle.
It's a safe space for curious beginners, seasoned audiophiles, or anyone who just wants to try something new without the fear of scratching their dad's prized Beatles album.

Even if you're not a vinyl purist, the vibes will get you
The whole place feels like the soundtrack to a rainy afternoon, with amber lighting, vintage-inspired furniture, and the soft hum of turntables.
It's somewhere between your dream living room and a Japanese listening bar, except no one's judging you for spinning the same side twice.
And the music library is impressive with more than 500 vinyl records ranging from The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, and Miles Davis to modern icons like Taylor Swift, Arctic Monkeys, and Kendrick Lamar.
There's also a growing selection of Malaysian and regional artistes, plus Chinese pop and classics, so there's always something unexpected waiting for you.

You'll need to order at least one food or drink to use a listening station
The menu keeps things minimalist but tempting:
- Bakes and desserts: Classic French Croissant, Pistachio Croissant, Very Strawberry Croissant, Mix Berries Danish, Chocolate Walnut Danish, Sausage Cheese Roll, Original Burnt Cheesecake
- Drinks: Americano, Latte, Mint Latte, Mocha, Chocolate, Cappuccino, Flat White, Matcha, Houjicha, Virgin Mojito
Perfect fuel for a mellow afternoon. We hear their hojicha latte pairs beautifully with a rainy-day jazz record.

For Jay, Eternyl isn't just a café. He hopes it will grow into a cultural hub and a place where people discover new artistes, revisit old favourites, and connect over shared experiences.
In the long run, he envisions hosting listening parties, collaborating with musicians, and maybe even bringing Eternyl to other Malaysian cities.
Because at the heart of it, this café isn't just about nostalgia: it's about making vinyl, once seen as an expensive, exclusive passion, accessible for everyone, and ensuring that this timeless way of listening stays eternal.
