It's nostalgia season and local artist Cloakwork just gave us a reason to relive our '90s childhood through fashion

If you grew up in Malaysia in the '90s, your weekends probably looked like pasar malam snacks, old-school toys, and that iconic green Buku 555 your parents used to jot down debts.

Cloakwork is bringing all of that back, thanks to his recent collab with Nike.

The Nike By You x Cloakwork collection is packed with bold graphics, vibrant colours, and cheeky references to the things that made our childhood uniquely Malaysian

From batu Seremban to postage stamps, every product is fully customisable — so you can print the designs on tees, tote bags, and more, making each one feel 100% personal.

Cloakwork calls the collaboration a dream come true: "After months of exchanging ideas and countless emails, I'm beyond excited to finally announce my collaboration with Nike, a true dream come true."

Cloakwork described the project as hopping into a time machine; one that fuses his graffiti roots with all the little things that made growing up in the '90s so uniquely Malaysian.

"Think of it as stepping into a time machine, drawing inspiration from the iconic snacks, vintage toys, and everyday objects that shaped our childhood," he said.

The result is a collection meant to spark cherished memories while also sharing these stories with a new generation.

You can rock designs featuring Pop Pop, Bukut 555, and even the buzz wire game

Some highlights include:

  • Pop Pop firecrackers (the ones we used to throw on the floor during festive seasons)
  • Batu Seremban, the childhood game that tested both skill and coordination
  • Rattan furniture patterns, which appear as a reimagined Nike swoosh design
  • Vintage Malaysian postage stamps, a little slice of our snail-mail past
  • The Buku 555 notebook, the OG financial tracker for every kedai runcit uncle
  • The buzz wire game, the nerve-wracking toy you couldn't touch without setting off the alarm

Each piece is not just a design, but a conversation starter, the kind that makes your friends go, "Eh, I remember this!"

As Cloakwork puts it, "With bold graphics, vibrant colours, and playful references, I've crafted a nostalgic journey meant to spark cherished memories and share these stories with new generations."

If you're in KL, you can already customise your own Cloakwork x Nike pieces at Nike Pavilion KL
