Instead of cats or dogs, this Indonesian woman keeps a crab as her pet

On Instagram, @yaminezka (Yasmine) regularly shares reels of her unusual companion — a crab named James.

At first, people were just curious about the novelty of owning a pet crab. But soon, viewers were drawn in how she treats him like family.

James doesn't live in an aquarium. He roams freely and even tags along outside.

Unlike most crabs that live in tanks, James is allowed to wander wherever he feels comfortable.

When Yasmine heads out, she doesn't keep him in a container either. No aquarium, no pet carrier — just his "mother's" arms and shoulders to perch on.

What's more surprising is that James never scuttles away. He calmly clings to Yasmine, sometimes crawling from her stomach to her back, and even up to her shoulders.

From bedtime cuddles to spa sessions, James lives the good life

In one reel, Yasmine films herself sleeping beside James, who cosily tucks himself next to her.

Another video shows him enjoying a "spa day", where Yasmine bathes him in water mixed with Himalayan salt, scrubs his shell with a toothbrush, and even applies oil to keep him shiny.

As a reward, James receives a juicy bell fruit snack.

Yasmine even takes James to a spa, where his 'skin' is checked and he undergoes Japanese water healing.

People are fascinated by Yasmine and James' dynamic

Many are amazed at how calm James remains, even during bath time.

One user commented that they're jealous a crab is living a more pampered life than them, while others praised Yasmin for keeping him safe and healthy.
