Let’s Stop Shaming Those Of Us Who Repeat Outfits
You didn't buy that expensive jacket just to wear it once, did you?
Cover image via Sarah Brown/UnsplashAdmit it — many of you have felt guilty (at least once) for wearing the same outfit again
Picture this: You finally got the chance to wear your favourite denim two piece with that cute chain bag. Oops! You wore it on a filler day when nothing interesting is happening.
Now you're stuck in this strange predicament: do you let it go or give that outfit another shot to truly shine?
However, you hesitate. Others might see it as lazy or might just think you're poor and can't afford another outfit. As irrational as these sound, people do actually fear these judgements.

Say it with me: Clothes. Are. Not. Food.
They're not just one-off. You really can just wear them again.
Honestly, I'm baffled that I even have to say that.
But why exactly do some of us feel wrong for repeating an outfit?
One word. Consumerism. Brands are always selling us new collections and making us feel like we just have to get with the new trend in order to be chic.
Otherwise, it's pure FOMO.
Interestingly, women are known to suffer more from this dilemma. Why?
According to Peppermint, many women are subject to this complex of feeling like they have "nothing to wear" — even with a full wardrobe. Many female celebrities get ridiculed on social media for appearing in a certain outfit more than once, so it's no wonder why the average woman feels the pressure.

The FOMO you're feeling comes at the expense of your wallet… and the environment
Obviously, if you're so eager to get your hands on the hottest pair of Nikes, you're going to need a lot of cash for that.
More importantly though, the key phrase here is fast fashion. Every time you order that new dress that imitates those of designer brands, you're contributing to huge textile landfills in developing countries.
Everyone needs to know this is possible: Good style can be paired with a greener environment.

So, go ahead — your outfit deserves an encore!
With a little bit of creativity, it can actually be very fun to repeat your outfits.
How about instead of wearing that denim two piece with a chain bag, you pair it with a statement necklace, white high-top sneakers, and a minimal white cap?
The sky's the limit, and others' opinions don't matter that much.
