Following the success of hit local drama Keluarga Itu comes Erma Fatima's next project, Toksik Cinta

Keluarga Itu aired in the Lestary slot on TV3 earlier this year, running from February to May. Featuring an all-star cast, the drama quickly became a national phenomenon, earning praise for its gripping storytelling and powerful performances.

Fans were disappointed when Erma Fatima, writer and producer of Keluarga Itu, announced that there would be no Season 2 of the beloved series, saying, "I'm not the kind of person who forces a sequel just for the sake of it".

But now, with the release of her next project, a Tonton Original Series titled Toksik Cinta, all eyes are on it to see if it will achieve, or even surpass, the success of Keluarga Itu.

Toksik Cinta carries Erma Fatimah's signature storytelling — rich in emotion, moral complexity, and realism — but this time with a darker, psychological lens.

The series explores the fine line between love and control, victim and abuser, leaving the audience questioning who truly deserves sympathy

The story begins when Alfi, a well-known director once thought to be a kind man, is revealed to have abused his wife, Karmila — a rising influencer and actress — while under the influence of marijuana.

After hiring Amsyar as her lawyer, Karmilla wins her divorce case, resulting in Alfi being sentenced to two years in prison. Over time, Karmila and Amsyar grow close, despite him being married. She later traps him in a compromising situation, leading to a secret marriage in Thailand.

And that's just the beginning of things; gear up for a dark tale full of twists and turns, where every episode brings new revelations.

You can expect strong performances from the star-studded cast, which includes Riena Diana, Aqasha, Keith Foo, Cristina Suzanne, Dayang Areeda, Ruzana Ibrahim, Tony Eusoff, Esma Daniel, Izzue Islam.

The series' themes of toxic relationships, manipulation, and justice are also highly socially relevant, shedding light on these important issues.

You can stream Toksik Cinta exclusively on Tonton starting 27 October
