Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has been handed a six-month driving ban in the UK over a speeding incident last year

The 35-year-old star was caught exceeding the speed limit in July 2024, an infraction that led to her driving ban for breaching traffic rules, according to various reports cited by Deadline.

The report said that the actress was driving an Audi at 38mph (61km/h) in a 30mph (48km/h) zone in Oxford. Her driving license was suspended because she had already accumulated over nine penalty points on her license, which triggered the ban.

The case against Watson was heard at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 16 July

Watson was not present during the proceedings, as she is currently enrolled at the University of Oxford and is on a hiatus from acting. In addition to the ban, the court also imposed a 1,044 pound (RM5,149) fine.

Interestingly, on the same day and at the same court, another Harry Potter actress, Zoë Wanamaker, who played Madam Hooch in the film series, was also banned from driving

She was caught driving at 46mph (76km/h) in a 40mph (64km/h) zone last August, fined 1,044 pounds (RM5,149), and was barred from driving for six months.
