Remember reciting the Rukun Negara when you were still in school?
PETRONAS' latest Hari Kebangsaan short film brings back all the memories with another heartfelt story.
Amid the backdrop of standing under the blazing sun during perhimpunan and reciting the Rukun Negara, the new patriotic short film, titled Sepenuh Hati, blends secondary school vibes with a powerful reminder to mean every word of the ikrar as we say it.
You can watch the full short film below:
The story follows Cikgu Murni, a new and passionate history teacher who picks up on something troubling during her first morning assembly at an all-boys school
She notices that during the recital of the Rukun Negara, students are inattentive, mumbling, and even playing among themselves instead of reciting the pledge with full spirit.

Through a candid conversation in her classroom, Cikgu Murni manages to spark deep and personal realisations among the students
Instead of punishing her students, she takes a stern but friendly approach and helps the boys reflect on the significance of the Rukun Negara.

With calmness and clarity, she guides them through the values of the pledge, including harmony, justice, and respect, and how those could look like in real life.

Slowly, her students begin to understand that the Rukun Negara is something to cherish and exemplify

Although not dramatic, the film shows a visible change in the students' attitudes towards the ikrar, and they recite the pledge again, this time full of spirit and intent.
In a world where self-interest often takes centre stage, Sepenuh Hati invites us to remember the promise we made to our nation and fellow Malaysians, so be sure to share it with all your loved ones!
PETRONAS wishes all Malaysians a happy Hari Kebangsaan and Malaysia Day!
