In 2015, Jagat changed the landscape of local cinema with its gritty, unfiltered look at estate life

Now, director Sun-J Perumal is back, but he isn't just dropping a standard sequel. He is building an entire multiverse.

Expanding on his award-winning 2015 masterpiece, Sun-J and Skyzen Studios announced the Jagat Multiverse.

This ambitious project revisits the original film's themes through two new spiritual sequels, Macai and Blues.

Instead of a linear continuation, Macai and Blues explore "what if" scenarios for Jagat's main character, Appoy

This bold narrative experiment asks how different choices shape the destiny of an Indian Malaysian man.

During the media screening of both films on 7 November, Sun-J explained that while the stories differ, the core message remains the same.

Macai dives into the psychology of survival and corruption, imagining a timeline where Appoy descends into the dark world of drugs.

Conversely, Blues offers a glimpse into a reality where Appoy channels his experiences into creativity, eventually becoming a filmmaker.

It took the director nearly four years to craft these diverging scripts while maintaining the emotional truth of the original

"They're both two different stories, but they all explore the same core — the mindset of an Indian man navigating life in Malaysia," Sun-J said.

Malaysian actor Karnan Kanapathy will star in both films. You won't have to wait long to see how these timelines play out.

Macai hits cinemas on 13 November, followed by Blues on 4 December.
