"I know that I can be perceived as aloof… But I had to learn as a young woman to control my emotions."

[Humans of New York] (http://says.com/ph/kulture/must-read-the-most-inspiring-and-heart-wrenching-stories-from-humans-of-manila) is an online photodocumentary that features interviews and street portraits of ordinary people (sometimes celebrities) taken from the streets of New York.
Clinton shared the real story to HONY as to why she seems like she's "aloof, cold or unemotional"
She recalled that time she was taking the admission test in Harvard Law with the other but few women when suddenly a group of young men yelling at them, saying, "'**You don't need to be here**.' And '**There's plenty else you can do**.'" Someone even said, "**If you take my spot, I'll get drafted, and I'll go to Vietnam, and I'll die**."

Clinton said it got very intense and personal. Her reaction: "**I couldn't respond. I couldn't afford to get distracted because I didn't want to mess up the test. So I just kept looking down, hoping that the proctor would walk in the room**."
If you haven't heard, Clinton openly talked about her first encounter with bullying when she was just 4 years old during the Democratic National Convention (28 July)
One day when she was running to escape a bully, her mother (Dorothy Rodham) stopped her and said:
"**There's no room for cowards in this house. You go back outside and figure out how to deal with what these kids are doing.**"
"**My mother wanted me to be resilient and she wanted me to be brave. She never let me back down from any challenge**," she added during her acceptance speech at the convention.

Clinton "woke up the world" when she gave a speech about women's rights at the United Nations' Fourth World Conference on Women on September 1995 in Beijing. Her famous radical statement is this:

So, when people view her as cold or unemotional, even though her friends and family do not perceive her as such, her reply is:
"I can't blame people for thinking that."
"**I know that I can be perceived as aloof or cold or unemotional. But I had to learn as a young woman to control my emotions**," said Clinton to [HONY] (https://www.facebook.com/humansofnewyork/photos/a.102107073196735.4429.102099916530784/1362236273850469/?type=3&theater) who obviously got admitted to Harvard and is now running to become the first female President of the United States.

Clinton also shared her thoughts to HONY on her struggles as a woman running for presidency and that she "can't yell too much" for fear of getting perceived as "scary"
"If you want to run for the Senate, or run for the Presidency, most of your role models are going to be men. And what works for them won't work for you. Women are seen through a different lens. It's not bad. It's just a fact."

"**I've learned that I can't be quite so passionate in my presentation.** I love to wave my arms, but apparently that's a little bit scary to people. And I can't yell too much. It comes across as 'too loud' or 'too shrill' or 'too this' or 'too that.' Which is funny, because I'm always convinced that the people in the front row are loving it."
