After former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak 'debuted' as an actor in a movie, MUDA president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman is the next politician to 'step into' the entertainment industry

Appearing as more than a cameo in Namewee's latest music video, the Muar member of parliament (MP) dances with the rapper-songwriter in a song about political frogs called Katak.

Released last Friday, 12 August, the music video has since garnered over 1.5 million views and received rave reviews.

Many netizens lauded Namewee for being inclusive by collaborating with 5Forty2 and The Real Masta Clan to produce a trilingual song. People also commended his satirical take on the political instability caused by party hoppers.

In the four-minute music video, Namewee's song implies that party hoppers can make quick bucks by switching political allegiance before he is joined by a dancing Syed Saddiq

Dressed in a suit, the former youth and sports minister dances in synchrony with Namewee.

The 29-year-old MP also gives a satirical speech at end of the music video, saying, "Frogs are a protected species in Malaysia."

"They have a super high IQ, are extremely skillful in hopping, have an abundance of collagen, and most importantly, they are very rich."

"Under the care of our beloved nation for years, frogs have continued mating here and there without shame, reproducing rapidly and increasing in numbers over the years."

"Everyone should remember that frogs are the national treasure of Malaysia. Please join me in chanting the slogan 'Long live the frogs!'"

The music video ends with Syed Saddiq being pulled away by background dancers.

After the video went viral, Najib took a jab at Syed Saddiq and accused him of being hypocritical

The convicted leader was referring to the time when Syed Saddiq was in Bersatu during the Pakatan Harapan administration, as the party accepted defected members from UMNO.

"Syed Saddiq didn't dance with Namewee when many MPs from UMNO and other parties joined Bersatu back then," said the Pekan MP in a Facebook post today, 16 August.

"At the time, he was a minister in the Pakatan Harapan government and was Bersatu's youth wing leader."

Human rights activist Ng Yap Hwa had earlier also criticised Syed Saddiq for being a hypocrite, citing an old Twitter post where Syed Saddiq welcomed Jeli MP Mustapa Mohamed to the Bersatu "family" in October 2018, reported Malaysiakini.
