Her death has sparked speculation across mainland China social media, according to South China Morning Post.
Known as Guava Beauty, the 24-year-old had amassed over 12,000 followers on her platform thanks to her "make-up mukbang" videos — a trend where influencers eat or pretend to eat products, usually food, but in her case, cosmetics.
In one recent clip, she cheekily challenged viewers, saying, "If you dare recommend it, I dare to eat it," as she chewed a jellylike blush, describing it as "crispy, kind of like agar jelly," but admitted that it tastes terrible.

While her quirky content was popular, some viewers expressed concern over the risks it posed, particularly for younger audiences who might think cosmetics are safe to ingest
Guava Beauty's final post was on 24 May, when she updated her profile bio to say: "Logging out from the world. Setting off on a new journey. All business collaborations are suspended."
Shortly after, her family announced her passing, writing, "It is with deep sorrow that we inform you that our treasured girl of beauty-product mukbangs, Guava Beauty, put down her brushes and flew off to start a new channel in heaven."

The family's announcement has triggered rumours about the cause of her death, with some suspecting chemical poisoning and others suggesting a heart attack
Online fans expressed shock and grief, with one remarking, "I cannot believe it, but I know Guava Beauty will be the most beautiful beauty-mukbang angel in heaven."
Mukbang content remains widely popular across Asia, known for providing viewers with comfort and entertainment. Guava Beauty's unique take, however, has now sparked a conversation on the potential dangers of blurring the lines between entertainment and safety.
