In addition to familiar well-wishes of prosperity and good fortune, Chinese New Year is also a time to celebrate bonds and rekindle love
This festive season, U Mobile has released a short film titled Eternal Hearts that combines a heartwarming love story with a timely reminder to showcase our affections while we still can.
Eternal Hearts opens with a scene of a 2025 CNY reunion dinner with an entire family present at the table
In between bites, the conversation between an elderly woman and her grown-up daughter touches on her upcoming 50th wedding anniversary, set to happen the following year.
"There's nothing to celebrate," the mother says to the daughter. "Your dad doesn't even remember my birthday."

"As far as I can remember, I don't even know if he proposed to me when we got married," she adds with a tangible hint of disappointment.

A year later, both the elderly couple arrive in Pattaya, Thailand for a holiday
But immediately, things start to go awry. First, the elderly husband is held back by customs for over an hour. Next, their driver's car breaks down and leaves them in need of a tow truck to take them to their destination.

But even after finding a tow truck, the truck driver suddenly declares that he urgently "needs to pee" and disappears, leaving them stranded in the middle of nowhere.
This proves to be the final straw for the wife, whose grumpy mood has only worsened of the course of the day. In a fit of anger, she blames her husband for all of their misfortune, and decides to walk the rest of the way to the destination, to her husband's dismay.
After a short trek away from the truck, the wife suddenly finds herself in the middle of a picturesque beach
Here she suddenly comes across the drivers who left them stranded, both of them lugging around a large Bluetooth speaker. Suddenly a Thai love ballad begins to play, and her husband appears behind her bearing a Mandarin orange.
Slowly, he gets on one knee and cracks open the top of the fruit, revealing a ring.

At this point, the film replays the previous events from the man's point of view: He'd noted his wife's disappointment at the reunion dinner, and had made meticulous plans with both drivers to set up this exact scenario.
"I've not given you much these 50 years," he says in earnest, which immediately softens his wife's cold demeanour.
"I'm grateful for this. Thank you," she responds.
Eternal Hearts serves as a poignant reminder that our loved ones don't need perfection, but gestures that they are seen and cherished
Whether it's a surprise vacation or a simple "I love you", it's never too late to show your appreciation and make new memories with those who matter most. And what better time than to do it this CNY?
U Mobile wishes all Malaysians a very prosperous Chinese New Year!
