After over two decades of marriage, Nor Hidayah Yusri has broken her silence on what she claims was a long and painful chapter of domestic abuse at the hands of her now ex-husband, veteran actor Edika Yusof

Speaking to the media after finalising her divorce at the Syariah Lower Court in Kuala Lumpur today, 5 May, the 47-year-old said the abuse began long before she fell ill, and continued throughout their marriage.

"Yes, there was domestic violence. Even in court today, he still tried to deny it. But I have the evidence — pictures, videos, audio recordings. I've kept it all," Harian Metro quoted her as saying.

According to Nor Hidayah, she isn't the only one who witnessed the alleged abuse

Her daughter, Fereena Nurulhaq, 20, was aware of the situation and would even alert her elder brother or discreetly contact the police when fights between the couple escalated.

"She's not staying with me, but that doesn't mean she doesn't know what's going on," she added.

"She's always the first to act when things get out of hand."

She also revealed that police had been called to their home multiple times over the years, a fact she says Edika continues to deny.

"He can say whatever he wants. I've already presented everything to the court."

Nor Hidayah said she had filed several police reports at the Kepong police station throughout their 22-year marriage, usually following violent incidents.

The couple officially separated after a single pronouncement of talak before Judge Syed Muhammad Syahadi Syed Siksh

According to the New Straits Times, the couple had previously garnered public attention for Edika's dedication in caring for Nor Hidayah, who was partially paralysed after the birth of their second child.
