LOTR fans, rejoice! The iconic trilogy is returning to cinemas this March for special screenings by GSC and TGV.
In Instagram posts on Sunday, 8 February, both cinema chains announced that the legendary films will be making their way back to the big screen next month.
Even better, audiences will get to watch the Extended Edition of the trilogy!
It's a major nostalgia moment for fans, especially as The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, the first instalment directed by Peter Jackson film, first premiered in December 2001.
The film celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
The later films in the trilogy, The Two Towers and The Return of the King, were released in December 2002 and December 2003, respectively.

The extended cut has a total runtime of about 11 hours and 36 minutes, including credits, with over two hours of additional footage across all three films
Each movie runs roughly 30 to 50 minutes longer than its theatrical version.
Even more exciting, GSC shared that this will be the first time the Extended Edition screens in Malaysian cinemas.
"Mark your calendars. Rally your fellowship. The road back to Middle-earth begins this March," TGV wrote.
While GSC has yet to reveal screening dates, TGV has announced its schedule:
- 5 March — The Fellowship of the Ring
- 12 March — The Two Towers
- 19 March — The Return of the King
Ticketing details have not been announced by either cinema.

Fans online are already buzzing, asking whether the films will be screened in IMAX and hoping for additional showings — because one day each simply isn't enough!
Stay tuned for more details.
